Generation After Rupture
A Methodology of Thought for the Post-Vanitas Era
Jiya Lim, Maison Philosophe, Busan
I. Post-Vanitas Thought Begins with Rupture
II. Encapsulated Rupture — The First Apparatus of Thought
III. 破後生成 (Pahu Saengseong) — Becoming-After
Earlier discourses translated the “after” into the language of recovery.
Post-Vanitas defines the after as re-operation.
Life does not return.
It begins again under altered operational rules.
This transformation is termed
破後生成 (Pahu Saengseong) — Becoming-After,
a state in which the logic of existence itself is recalibrated.
IV. Repetitive Ritual — The Operative System of Becoming-After
Becoming-After is not realized through conceptual articulation.
It is sustained solely through action.
Here, repetition is not affective expression but the
operative system that keeps post-ruptural existence in motion.
-
An expanded material field centered on black glaze
-
An iterative protocol of rupture, golden intervention, and liquid infusion
-
A circumductive rite in which ceramic forms are rotated while gold is applied, converting post-ruptural time from linear progression into circular persistence
In this regime, life does not speak meaning.
It persists as form.
