《The Post-Vanitas Era: Manifesto》

A movement born from ruin.

A testimony to return.

Crowned with sincerity.

Post-Vanitas is not just a term.

It is a movement conceived and authored by the artist herself.

1. Definition

"The Post-Vanitas Era" is a contemporary aesthetic philosophy and art movement

that emerges from the ruins of collapse—personal, societal, and spiritual.

Rooted in the historical genre of Vanitas (17th-century still lifes reflecting the brevity of life),

Post-Vanitas does not merely reject vanity— it chronicles resurrection.

Whereas Vanitas mourned mortality,

Post-Vanitas dignifies return.

It honors those who have crossed the threshold

of emotional, existential, and cultural annihilation—

and who now choose to live again with deliberate authorship.

2. Core Tenets

Art is not ornament. It is redemption.

Luxury is not display. It is dignity restored.

Post-Vanitas is not performance—it is testimony.

It is the canon for this era—

after COVID,

after collapse,

after silence.

3. Visual Language

Post-Vanitas employs the following symbolic elements:

– A skull crowned with a crown, weeping.

– Symbols of destruction and rebirth: apples, pomegranates, kiss marks, etc.

– Rough-textured kintsugi, visibly scarred.

– Ritual gestures, such as chalices and wax seals.

Each symbol carries

a wound—

and a vow.

4. Philosophical Statement

“It is the art of those who returned.

It is the testimony of those who chose to live again.”

— Jiya Lim

5. Semantic Reversal

The Vanitas tradition once whispered — “Memento Mori.”

Remember death.

But The Post-Vanitas Era does not kneel before endings.

It stands—

in the light of what remains.

We no longer say “Memento Mori.”

We proclaim: “Memento Vivere.”

Remember to live.

This is not an age of mourning.

It is an age of resurrection.

We do not merely survive.

We return—

and we choose to live with meaning.

It is not a warning.

It is a vow—

and an offering.

The Post-Vanitas Era

A time of sincerity and dignity.

The Post-Vanitas Era—

not a sequel,

but a sovereign chapter in art history.
